Surya Roshni Launches E-Waste Awareness Drive Across Punjab and Chandigarh Communities

MOHALI: Surya Roshni Limited, one of India’s leading manufacturers of lighting products, wires and cables, fans, home appliances, PVC pipes, water pumps, water tanks, and steel pipes, has reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability through a large-scale e-waste collection and awareness campaign across Punjab and Chandigarh.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with authorized recycling agencies and local residential welfare associations, aimed to encourage residents to adopt responsible disposal practices for electronic waste and contribute to a cleaner environment.
The awareness and collection drive was organized at Ansal’s Woodbury Apartments in Zirakpur, Pushpac Society Complex and Nirvana Society in Chandigarh, and TDI-1 in Mohali. Residents were encouraged to dispose of end-of-life electrical and electronic products, including lighting equipment, household appliances, and other electronic waste through authorized recycling channels.
With the growing use of electronic devices across India, the management of discarded electrical and electronic equipment has emerged as a major environmental challenge. Improper disposal of e-waste can result in environmental pollution and the loss of valuable recyclable materials. Through this campaign, Surya Roshni sought to raise awareness about the importance of responsible e-waste disposal and the role consumers play in promoting environmental sustainability.
The company has established a robust pan-India collection network to facilitate the safe collection, transportation, and recycling of e-waste through government-authorized recycling facilities. Surya Roshni also complies with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, Battery Waste Management Rules, and Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016.
