Akums Strengthens Baddi Facility to Meet Growing Pharma Demand
Chandigarh: Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is strengthening its Baddi facility to increase manufacturing capacity, expand its product range, and improve quality standards. This step reflects the company’s focus on meeting the changing needs of the pharmaceutical industry, where reliability, speed, and consistency have become increasingly important.
The upgrade is focused on improving key manufacturing capabilities across several therapeutic segments. These include the General Block for tablets and capsules, the Oncology Block for tablet and liquid formulations, and the Steroid Block. New production lines are also being added to support this expansion.

The company said the initiative is not only about increasing production but also about upgrading technology, improving efficiency, and expanding into specialized segments such as oncology. The addition of liquid oncology formulations also reflects a move towards more patient-friendly treatment options.
At the same time, Akums is working to make the Baddi facility ready for EU GMP certification, a globally recognised quality standard. This will help reduce dependency on a single location, lower operational risks, and ensure a smoother and more reliable supply.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Sanjeev Jain, Managing Director of Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., said that companies today are looking for partners who can provide consistency, flexibility, and the ability to grow with their business. He said strengthening the Himachal Pradesh facility is a step in that direction, enabling the company to serve its partners more effectively while preparing for future opportunities in India and global markets.
He added that the company’s stronger presence in Himachal Pradesh also offers a geographical advantage for businesses in and around the region by enabling faster coordination, quicker deliveries, and better supply alignment, helping them respond to market demand more efficiently.
